For those who love music, there are numerous locations and even whole neighborhoods dedicated to specific sounds such as 90s grunge, for example.

TRANSPORTATION: GETTING AROUND SEATTLE

If you plan to commute by personal vehicle, you can expect to deal with traffic jams on a regular, if not daily, basis during rush hours and on the weekends. Most often, these will occur near Seattle’s center from noon until late afternoon. For those who rely on public transportation, there are several options including cabs and streetcars, the Monorail, the King County Metro, the Light-Rail Connection and even ferries, all of which are affordable travel modes for work, shopping or leisure activities. While cab rides might not sound like a favorable option, today’s technology has led to several apps that can make calling a cab easier and more efficient than ever before.

WORKING IN SEATTLE

Before starting to worry about finding work in Seattle, Washington, this area is home to numerous innovative companies, including these big names in business: Costco, Microsoft, Nintendo of America, Starbucks, Expedia, Nordstrom, T-Mobile and Amazon. Additionally, the University of Washington is the area’s largest employer with more than 28,000 employed faculty and staff members, and an impressive yearly revenue of $3.7 billion.

With so many corporate giants settling in and around Seattle, Washington, there is no shortage of employment opportunities for those who aspire to work and achieve the American dream …or just their dream job. Whether you hold a degree or nothing more than a high school diploma, Seattle, Washington offers more than 1.93 million jobs and has an unemployment rate of 7.2%, which is much less than the national average, thanks to the many corporations that call this port city home.
